24th Annual Day of SPI Nepal

Sustainable Prosperity Initiative (SPI) Nepal proudly marked its 24th anniversary with a commitment to advancing clean energy and sustainable development in Nepal. The event highlighted SPI Nepal’s transformative journey while bringing together key partners, experts, and stakeholders from the clean energy and development sectors whose insights offered a comprehensive view of the progress, challenges, and opportunities in clean energy and climate action.

Managing Director Ms. Sarita Karki reflected on the organization’s evolution over the past 24 years, highlighting major milestones and impacts. Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Mukesh Ghimire emphasized the urgent need for climate financing, grid investments, consistent policies, and local empowerment to accelerate progress toward Nepal’s clean energy goals.

Chief Guest Er. Ganesh Shah, Former Minister for Environment, lauded SPI Nepal’s contributions to the sector and requested for a nationwide clean energy campaign. Representing client and partner organizations, Ms. Karuna Bajracharya, Nepal Country Representative of the Clean Cooking Alliance, underscored the power of strong partnerships in expanding access to clean energy solutions.

Special remarks were delivered by renewable energy expert Mr. Kushal Gurung, and a dynamic Q&A session was moderated by Mr. Purushottam Ghimire, Senior Policy Advisor at SPI Nepal. The program concluded with Chairperson Mr. Mohan Das Manandhar extending a vote of thanks and sharing a strategic outlook for the future.

Looking ahead, SPI Nepal envisions promoting clean cooking technologies to reach 500,000 households and supporting local governments in adopting clean energy solutions by 2030. As Nepal commits to achieving net-zero emissions by 2045, SPI Nepal remains dedicated to aligning its work with the country’s national climate goals and becoming a key player in the emerging carbon market.
